Alsymutilizes earth-abundant materials that are sourced from North America and allied free-trade partners. This ensures customers are protected from the trade disputes, export controls, and ethical concerns associated with the global lithium market.
The Alsym Na-series uses aluminum current collectors for both the anode and cathode. Lithium-ion batteries must use copper for the anode, which is three times more expensive. This swap not only reduces the overall bill of materials (BOM) but also allows our batteries to be safely shipped and stored at 0% State of Charge (SOC) without the risk of internal corrosion -- a massive logistical advantage for global distribution.
Sodium and iron are 1000x and 2800x more abundant in the Earth's crust than lithium, respectively. As the world moves towards terawatt-scale energy storage, this abundance helps Alsym's production costs continue to decline due to economies of scale, rather be at the risk of increasing due to the "scarcity spikes" the lithium and cobalt markets have experienced.
